Scooby Wright projected first round draft pick by Pro Football Focus

Could the former Arizona star still get drafted in the first round?

When Scooby Wright missed most of the 2015 season with knee and foot injuries, people wondered how much that would hurt his draft stock.

Well, if Pro Football Focus is tracking him correctly, it won't hurt him at all.

On Wednesday, Steve Palazzolo of PFF put out his second mock draft of the offseason, and if you scroll down to the 28th pick in the first round, he has the Kansas City Chiefs taking Wright with their first round pick.

"Seemingly always on the lookout for a complement to LB Derrick Johnson in the middle of the defense, Kansas City adds Wright who was one our No. 2 linebacker in the nation in 2014 (+50.6)," Palazzolo states. "Wright is coming off injury that limited him to only 174 snaps in 2015, but he's quick to diagnose and excellent against the run, grading at +40.0 over the last two years."

This most recent mock draft actually drops Wright down a few spots. Palazzolo had him going higher three weeks ago in his first mock draft. In the original version, he had the Arizona product going 21st overall.

If NFL teams do their homework, Wright's injury won't hurt him much, as long as he proves in his offseason workouts, the NFL Combine, and Arizona's Pro Day that he is healthy and moving well. His 2014 season, combined with his performance in the 2015 New Mexico Bowl, will draw tons of interest from NFL scouts throughout the draft process, and he'll find himself being taken in the first two rounds.
