Pac-12 Basketball Power Rankings: Arizona on top heading into conference play
Let there be conference play!
We are on the verge of conference play beginning in the Pac-12, so we set out to rank the conference after the non-conference part of the season.
The only things that all five agreed on was that Arizona is the best team, and Stanford is the worst.
Here's how the voting turned out, with golf scoring used for the points (1 for 1st, 2 for 2nd, etc.):
Ranking | Team | Points |
1 | Arizona Wildcats | 5 |
2 | Utah Utes | 14 |
3 | Oregon Ducks | 15 |
4 | California Golden Bears | 20 |
5 | UCLA Bruins | 22 |
6 | Colorado Buffaloes | 31 |
7 | USC Trojans | 32 |
8 | Arizona State Sun Devils | 41 |
9 | Oregon State Beavers | 42 |
10 | Washington Huskies | 51 |
11 | Washington State Cougars | 54 |
12 | Stanford Cardinal | 60 |
As has been the case throughout the season, there are a few pairs of teams that are really close and tough to decipher between. Utah/Oregon, Cal/UCLA, CU/USC and ASU/OSU are all within one or two points of each other, showing how similarly their respective seasons have played out to this point.
Hopefully conference play begins to bring a little clarity to where all of these teams stand. The top seven, possibly the top nine, all have a chance to make at least a little noise in the Pac-12 this year. It's about to get interesting.
Check back here every Wednesday throughout the rest of the season for our updated Pac-12 Power Rankings after each weekend of games.
