New Mexico Bowl: Scooby Wright, Cayleb Jones, and Drew Riggleman are Arizona's Players of the Game

It was quite the farewell performance by Scooby Wright

The Arizona Wildcats beat the New Mexico Lobos 45-37 in the New Mexico Bowl, and the players most responsible for the victory are not unusual suspects. In fact, these are the players that many would've thought to see on this list plenty of times this season, but things didn't exactly go as planned.

Anyway, here are the final trio of players of the game in the 2015 season:

Offense: Cayleb Jones

It's safe to say that, production-wise, Cayleb Jones had a disappointing season. He reached the 1,000-yard mark last season and had nine touchdowns, yet this season, had just over 900 yards and five touchdowns. Now a lot of that had to do with the instability and poor play at the QB position this season, but still, I think many, including myself, believed he would surpass his 2014 totals.

Regardless, Jones ended the season on an extremely high note. He was on the receiving end of a few bombs from Anu Solomon and ended the game with four catches for 182 yards and a touchdown.

It was a weird outing for the offense as Anu was able to connect on throws deep down the field, but was inaccurate on short and medium throws. Without Jones' big play ability, things would've ended differently. If this was Jones' last game as a Wildcat -- an NFL declaration wouldn't be surprising -- he did it in style.

Defense: Scooby Wright III

It was Scooby's final game as an Arizona Wildcat and he went out in a perfect Scooby Wright fashion. Though his conditioning wasn't up to usual standards as was evident when he had to pull himself out of the game at times, he still managed to rack up 15 tackles -- 3.5 of which were for a loss -- and two sacks, one of which came on a huge fourth down late in the game.

I can't help but think about how the season would have been different had Scooby been healthy, but I'm thankful that we got a chance to see him suit up in the red, white, and blue one last time. And for him to play the way he did was icing on the cake.

Special Teams: Drew Riggleman

Riggleman had a tremendous senior season and he ended it with a bang. He punted three times for 160 yards -- a 55.5 yards per punt average -- and two of his punts landed inside the 20. One of them was downed at the one. He along with Casey Skowron will sorely be missed next season.
