Boise State vs. Arizona: Wildcats host Broncos for Wooden Legacy opening game

The Wildcats welcome the Boise State Broncos to Tucson on Friday night in Arizona's first game against a tournament team from 2015.

After a 25-9 season and a NCAA tournament birth last year, the Boise State Broncos come to Tucson to open the John Wooden Legacy Tournament against the Arizona Wildcats.

What to Watch

After playing Bradley, a team that had ten freshmen, Boise State comes with a little more experienced squad with two juniors, two seniors and a sophomore in their starting lineup. Anthony Drmic, a senior guard from Australia, leads the Broncos with 55 points through two games. In Boise State's last game, they played the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks, where they scored 101 points, the first time doing so since 2013.

From Arizona's perspective, the 'Cats have a more talented roster than the Broncos and need to keep up the tempo and use their athleticism to their favor. The Wildcats should be able to get to the line again, after an impressive and record-setting 52 attempts from the line on Monday.

Allonzo Trier had an excellent game against Bradley on Monday night, going a perfect 14-of-14 from the line and an efficient 4-5 from the field to score a game-high 22. It will be interesting to watch to see if this kind of offensive production is something we can expect from him and if Sean Miller will push him into the starting lineup, as he continues to experiment with combinations.

Kadeem Allen struggled against Bradley, and it will be worth keeping an eye on how he bounces back after his first below-average performance as a Wildcat.

Something that Arizona struggled with in their first two games this season is a zone, something that the Wildcats have struggled with even going back to last season. Assuming Boise State saw that in film, Arizona will have another good opportunity to improve in that area.

All in all, this should be a good measuring stick game, against a Boise State team that has made the tournament in two of the past three seasons.
