Sonoran Hot Reads: Casey Skowron named Pac-12 Player of the Week
Arizona's first honor of the year
It took eleven weeks, but the Arizona Wildcats finally earned a Pac-12 Player of the Week nod. After going 3-3 on both field goals and extra points, Casey Skowron took home this week's award. It just adds to the perfect weekend that he had. But I'm also not sure how the Wildcats went this long without getting anything
- Rich Rodriguez came out and said he would support a change to an eight-game conference schedule. Well, Larry Scott doesn't seem to think that's an important issue. Maybe when he realizes the conference lost money because of Saturday's results, he'll change his mind
- There was some confusion early on Monday, but there will not be a return to action for Scooby Wright III in Tempe this weekend. Anu Solomon is officially termed "day-to-day". Also, Jake Matthews is out through at least spring ball probably, possibly longer
- Here are the sounds of the game from the OT win over Utah
- Rodriguez also addressed the Gary Pinkel/Mizzou situation, which was so crazy last week it's hard to even comprehend
- While the Territorial Cup may not have the national stature it did last year, there's still a lot to play for with both teams
- This whole Sparky hurting a city councilman story is so wonderfully weird
- Jordan Simone will not play for ASU this weekend. He leads the nation in tackles per game
- High school football in Texas is nuts, and now there's a lot of sponsorship money attached to it
Basketball
- Allonzo Trier led the way in what ended up being a 30-point win over Bradley
- Jim Livengood is involved in the 'Vegas 16' tournament, which is yet another college basketball postseason tournament, but will be played exclusively in Las Vegas
- You may have heard the Pac-12 is playing basketball games in China now. Here's a bunch of pictures from the inaugural version of the event
Other sports
- Here are all the best photos from this week
- Women's tennis finished off the fall season strong
Tucson news
- It's cold, and there's snow on Mount Lemmon
- There was a false bomb threat at a Sunnyside USD school on Monday
- Arizona is one of several states refusing to take in refugees, because Arizona hates to be decent to humans
- Nitro Circus Live is coming to Tucson in April
