Arizona football recruiting: No. 1 ranked Junior College player Jonathan Kongbo will visit Tucson this weekend

Rich Rodriguez might be onto something here.

Just a day after Rich Rodriguez was pleading for a top junior college pass rusher to give him a call, it seems as if he got his wish. 6-6 265lb 4-star defensive end/linebacker, Jonathan Kongbo, will be visiting Arizona this weekend for the Utah game. Kongbo is ranked as the No. 1 JUCO product in the nation according to 247Sports.

He hails from Arizona Western College, so you know Paul Magloire will help Matt Dudek lead the charge in recruiting. Originally from British Columbia, Kongbo has been a freak athlete since high school. He only started playing football his senior year, yet was named a First-Team Provincial All-Star. He also played basketball, where he helped lead his team to the provincial 4A championship game, and was named to the First All-Star team. On the track, he placed third in the 100-meter dash.

Somehow, he made his way to Wyoming, as an unranked recruit. He redshirted his freshman year, and opted to leave, for undisclosed reasons. He found his way at Arizona Western and he's picked up some serious attention from across the country.

Kongbo picked up an offer from the Arizona Wildcats just a few weeks ago, back on October 22nd. It was his third offer since enrolling at AWC, with his first two offers coming from USF and Tennessee. Since October 23rd, Alabama, Mississippi State, and Washington have all offered him.

He took an official visit to Ole Miss back on October 24th, he'll take an official this weekend to Tucson, head to Auburn next week, and then Tennessee the week after. With his list of officials, it seems as if Arizona is actually a strong consideration, but those SEC schools are tough to compete with, especially when you're talking about the No. 1 ranked JUCO prospect in the nation.
