Sonoran Hot Reads: Rich Rodriguez to South Carolina?

This could get weird come December

It's not secret that while he's still in Arizona, Rich Rodriguez' name will come up in virtually every major coaching opening in college football. ESPN's Travis Haney wrote an in-depth, Insider piece, on why Rodriguez would be a fit at South Carolina, or possibly even Virginia Tech (that's not happening, trust me). But South Carolina is a real threat, especially if Gamecock AD Ray Tanner finds there was no wrong doing by Rodriguez' staff at Michigan. South Carolina has given Tanner the ability to spend $5 million per year on a head coach. Steve Spurrier was making $4M. RichRod currently makes $2.8M. Also, his buyout is significantly less ($500k) than, say, Houston's Tom Herman ($2.25M). Haney also says at the end of his article that the stock option bonus we all know and love wouldn't keep him from entertaining a job offer on the east coast. When the offseason rolls around, we'll hear plenty of rumors about Rodriguez. But for now, you should read this piece on why it's realistic that he leaves.
