Sonoran Hot Reads: Red-Blue Game rejuvenates Arizona recruiting
And we're back
The Red-Blue Game signals a lot of things, but this year, it signaled the start of bringing Arizona Wildcats fans back to positivity, and stopping the pity party. It started with the commitment of Lauri Markkanen, went into the game where the transfers showed flashes of greatness, and then the afterglow of recruits showing the greatness of Arizona, such as Troy Brown and KJ Hymes, or even Marcus Bagley
- Here's a quick look from 247 of all the visitors that were in attendance
- Of course, a lot of it has to do with the atmosphere created by the fans, as Sarah Kezele documents perfectly for AZCentral
Football
- This weekend will be a big recruiting weekend for football, as we now know that commits Khalil Tate and London Iakopo will be in town, as well as uncommitted three-star corner Terrell Burgess. With WSU in town, you can bet Burgess will get a look at his presumed competition for next year and how they handle the Cougs' pass-heavy offense
- They'll also get some of this RichRod action in the postgame locker room. Coach also talks a lot about Jerrard Randall in this postgame press conference video
- Wildcat Radio was in Boulder for this one too, and they recap all the action in their latest podcast
- Our players of the game don't line up with who the coaches picked this week, but I like ours better, obviously
- The latest S&P Ratings at Football Outsiders have Arizona 68th and ASU 67th. Rivalry fuel!
Other sports
- Men's tennis did not do so hot on Saturday. Women's tennis was a little better
- Volleyball struggled this weekend as well, managing to only take one set against USC
- Women's golf is tied for 11th at the Stanford Intercollegiate
Tucson news
- New Town China Buffet in Marana had to be evacuated after a car hit the building's gas meters
- The Tombstone gun fight re-enactment was super real on Sunday, as one of the actors actually shot himself in the foot and was flown to UMC
- Buckelew Farm was closed because of the huge amount of rain over the past couple of days
