Anu Solomon injury update: Arizona quarterback practiced for Wildcats Tuesday

Anu Solomon could be back on Saturday

Rich Rodriguez has made it a point of not giving injury updates on his players, but that seems to have changed when that involves his star defensive player in Scooby Wright III, or his starting quarterback with Anu Solomon this year.

Coach gave an update on Solomon during Tuesday night's weekly radio show with Brian Jeffries. Here's the audio:

Solomon practiced on Tuesday for the first time since suffering a concussion against the UCLA Bruins ten days ago.

"You're going to air on the side of caution," Rodriguez says about dealing with concussions. "But Anu did some practice today, which is encouraging. He did most of the work, and then he'll probably do a lot of it tomorrow, and then he'll get tested again on Thursday. If everything is okay on Thursday, then we're optimistic he can play on Saturday."

This comes a day after Rodriguez said that if Solomon had not practiced this week, he would not be able to play on Saturday, because college quarterbacks can't quite roll without practice like NFL guys can.

So, this is good news when it comes to Arizona's chances of getting back in the win column. They are a much better team with Solomon out there than they are with Jerrard Randall or Brandon Dawkins behind center.
