UTSA vs. Arizona: DaVonte' Neal's blocked field goal shifts momentum towards Wildcats

The former receiver making plays on defense and special teams

From his role on special teams and defense, DaVonte' Neal made his presence felt vs UTSA.

He was attacked early and often by UTSA, often throwing to his side of the field. He did give the receivers a bit of a cushion, but he was able to wrap up and make a play on the ball, as shown by his 11 tackles, which was tied for first with William Parks.

But the biggest play of the game came from DaVonte' Neal's work on special teams. His blocked field goal attempt from 44 yards quickly shifted the momentum back into Arizona's hands.

"DaVonte' has been close to blocking every one of them in practice and he takes pride in that," Rodriguez said in the post game press conference.

After the blocked kick, Jamar Allah was able to scoop up the ball and return it into Roadrunner territory. From there, Cayleb Jones was able to draw a pass interference call, Nick Wilson broke off a 21 yard run, and Anu Solomon found Cayleb Jones from four yards out for the touchdown. The score gave Arizona a 42-26 lead with 13 minutes to go in the fourth quarter.

The touchdown pretty much sealed the game, which puts the Wildcats at 1-0 on the young season.
