Arizona football: Scooby Wright to miss several weeks with right foot sprain

Another tough blow to Arizona's best defensive player

At Monday's weekly press conference, Rich Rodriguez announced that Scooby Wright III will miss "several weeks" due to a right foot sprain he sustained during the UCLA game.

Coach said that the junior linebacker's left knee, which was the one he injured in the season-opener, came out fine. Wright suffered the injury when he landed awkwardly on his right foot at some point during the most recent game.

Rodriguez also said that the coaching staff feared that it was worse than what it was, but the MRI came back Monday morning and showed that Wright would miss a couple of weeks.

"If it was broken, which was a concern, we could have gotten a medical redshirt if we applied for it," Rodriguez explained. "Jamar Allah and Anthony Lopez suffered foot sprains in camp, and they returned in a few weeks, and with the way Scooby attacks his rehab, hopefully we'll have him back in a couple of weeks."

This, once again, means Tre Tyler is the guy in the middle for the Arizona defense. The Wildcats also need Derrick Turituri and DeAndre' Miller to get fully healthy to have any success on the defensive side of the ball.
