Arizona football recruiting: 6-4 290lb defensive tackle Markell Utsey commits to Arizona

Another big dude for Arizona in just over 12 hours

Just over 12 hours ago, Arizona landed the commit of 6-4 315lb offensive guard Michael Eletise. Today, Markell Utsey announced via Twitter that he has committed to The University of Arizona.

He is now the fifth defensive line commit for Arizona, and the 11th commit in the month of July. Rich Rodriguez has clearly addressed the need for size on the defensive line and will have plenty of able bodies down the road. At 6-4 290lbs, he is by far the biggest in size for 2016.

How he was discovered by Arizona is pretty interesting. Utsey had told me that he was very interested in Arizona a few weeks ago, but that was prior to the commitment of Jabari Watson, Jake Burton and Josh Allen. I was fairly confident that he would end up at Arizona, but it was hard to gage after so many commitments. But for right now, I think this would officially take 3-star defensive end Evan Weaver out of the mix.
