2015 NBA Summer League: Former Wildcats shine in the first day of the Orlando Summer League

Day one went well for most of the former Wildcats

The first day of the Orlando Summer League was a success for former Wildcats - well for the most part.

Aaron Gordon was definitely the shining star of the day after he scored 22 points and grabbed 18 rebounds in Orlando (Blue)'s victory over the Clippers. His jumpshot looked really smooth, as he went 2-5 from behind the arc. He also made a stepback, and a few other jumpers off the dribble, which is not something we've really seen from him before. He did do things that are what you'd normally expect from him though, like finishing off an alley-oop in transition, and creating second chance points for the offense.

Here are the highlights from his outstanding performance:

But Gordon wasn't the only one that showed an improvement in his game. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson's jumper looked a lot better. He went 1-2 from behind the arc, and knocked down a tough mid-range jumper. He finished with 9 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. He did typical Rondae things like creating a turnover and taking it himself for the finish just before the buzzer sounded.

Here are some highlights of his performance:

Stanley Johnson had a great day too. He came off the bench for whatever reason, but he did a little bit of everything. Hit a three, defended well, attacked the rim in the halfcourt and in transition, and of course, had some dunks. His finishing ability has often been criticized, but it definitely wasn't an issue in this game. He had some acrobatic finishes, and also finished through contact too.

And even though these games have little meaning, Stanley was not hesitant to show to show a little emotion in this one. He finished with 13 points on 5-8 shooting, while also grabbing 4 rebounds, and dishing out 3 assists.

Here are the highlights:

Solomon Hill played for the Pacers, but I think it's best that we don't discuss it too much.  He went 1-10 from the field, and fouled out.
