2015 MLB All-Star Game rosters: Mark Melancon named to National League pitching staff

The former Wildcat makes his second All-Star Game

Former Arizona Wildcat and current Pittsburgh Pirates closer Mark Melancon was named to his second MLB All-Star team on Monday.

Melancon was previously in the 2013 All-Star Game, also for the Pirates.

This year, the right-hander has converted 27 save opportunities, including each of his last 25. It's already the second-highest single season total for him, as he had 33 saves in 2014.

Melancon has been dominating in his three years with the Pirates, and this year is certainly no exception. He has not put up an ERA of more than two in these three seasons. He currently has a 1.58 ERA in 2015.

One thing that's interesting is that his strikeout numbers are way down from the last two years. This year, he's striking out just 6.3 batters per nine innings of work. He was striking out nine/9IP the last two seasons.

The other Arizona MLB regular, Nick Hundley, did not get named to the All-Star team, despite hitting .296 so far this year for the Rockies.

Congrats to Mark on being named to his second All-Star team!
