Arizona offers JUCO All-American linebacker AJ Hotchkins

Another JUCO product on the rise

In this recruiting season, we're starting to see Rich Rodriguez go after more junior college products, particularly on defense. One of the more recent offers went to Riverside City College linebacker AJ Hotchkins.

Hotchkins was originally a two-star recruit from Portland, Oregon. He signed with the Wyoming Cowboys, declining offers from Idaho, Montana, Northern Colorado and Portland State. However, for whatever reason, he elected to go to Riverside City College after high school.

After spending his freshman year at Riverside, he accumulated 101 tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble and an interception returned for a touchdown. Hotchkins has perked the interest of several Pac-12 schools now.

Now ranked as a 3-star linebacker according to Scout, he currently holds offers to Arizona, California, Texas Tech, UNLV, and Washington State, among others. He has many accolades to his name as well, being named an ESPN Top 50 JUCO recruit, 2014 JUCO All American first team defense, as well as the Southern California Junior College Player of the Year.

Hotchkins would be an immediate boost for the linebacking corps, filling the void for Heisman vote recipient and consensus All-American linebacker Scooby Wright when he most likely declares for the NFL Draft after this season. But expect Hotchkins to gain more attention throughout his recruitment process.
