Arizona confirms receiving NCAA Notice of Allegations

The Arizona Wildcats confirmed in a statement Friday that they have received a Notice of Allegations from the NCAA enforcement staff, though it could be a while before any details are made public.

“In order to protect the integrity of the ongoing enforcement process, the University is not releasing the NOA at this time,” the UA said.

Sports Illustrated, which reported Thursday that the UA had received an NOA, said Arizona’s case is one of the most severe among the 12 schools that were involved in the federal investigation into college basketball corruption that saw former UA assistant Book Richardson sentenced to three months in prison for accepting $20,000 in bribes from former agent Christian Dawkins in exchange for influencing Arizona’s players to sign with him.

If found guilty of Level I violations, Arizona could be hit with a postseason ban, loss of scholarships, recruiting visit restrictions, a head coach suspension, and/or show-cause penalties.

Oklahoma State, whose case is believed to be similar to Arizona’s, received three years of probation along with a one-year postseason ban.

UA head coach Sean Miller declined to comment on the NOA and NCAA investigation on Thursday.

“We’re looking forward to today’s practice, to our future,” he said.
