The New England Patriots will roll with Nick Folk to begin the season.

The team had two kickers on the practice squad but none on the 53-man roster before promoting the former Arizona Wildcat on Saturday in advance of Sunday’s season opener against the Miami Dolphins.

Folk, 35, was competing with rookie and fifth-round pick Justin Rohrwasser for the job.

This will mark Folk’s 13th season in the league and second straight with the Patriots. Last year he appeared in seven games with New England, making 14 of his 17 field-goal attempts and all 12 of his extra points.

For his career, Folk has converted 80.4 percent of his field goal attempts, a mark that would have ranked 20th in the NFL last season.

His best season came with the New York Jets in 2013 when he made 92 percent of his kicks.

Folk is one of five Wildcats who are on a 53-man NFL roster—the others being J.J. Taylor (Patriots), Rob Gronkowski (Buccaneers), Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (49ers) and Nick Foles (Bears).

Will Parks (Eagles) and Dane Cruikshank (Titans) will join them once they are removed from injured reserve in a few weeks.
