Former Arizona star Aaron Gordon leaves NBA bubble, per report

It appears that Aaron Gordon has played his last game in the NBA’s bubble in Orlando.

Shams Charania of The Athletic is reporting that Gordon, the former Arizona Wildcats star who plays for the Orlando Magic, has left the bubble “due to his hamstring injury and events of the past few days on campus.”

Gordon hasn’t played for the Magic since Aug. 5 when he suffered a left hamstring injury against the Toronto Raptors. In his absence, eighth-seeded Orlando managed to shock the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks in Game 1 of their best-of-seven playoff series but the Magic have since lost three in a row.

Orlando and Milwaukee were scheduled to play Game 5 on Wednesday but that game, and all others that day and Thursday, were postponed as a form of protest against the Jacob Blake shooting in Kenosha, Wisc. on Sunday.

The NBA playoffs are expected to resume Friday, with Orlando and Milwaukee on tap for Game 5 at 1 p.m. MST. With Gordon leaving the bubble he would need to go through quarantine upon return, but considering he hasn’t played in more than three weeks it’s unlikely he would come back.

Gordon, 24, averaged 14.4 points and 7.7 rebounds in 62 games this season with Orlando, the team that drafted him fourth overall in 2014. Prior to that he averaged 12.4 points and 8.0 rebounds with the UA during the 2013-14 season.
