Kerr Kriisa brings the ‘electricity’ as Estonia beats Latvia to win Baltic Way Cup

The Estonians captured the Baltic Way Cup on Sunday by routing Latvia 84-67 in Tallinn, Estonia’s capital city. Arizona Wildcats signee Kerr Kriisa had eight points and four assists in 20 minutes.

As usual, he wasn’t lacking any competitive fire. Early in the fourth quarter, Kriisa got face-to-face with a Latvian player and words were exchanged:

Kriisa was assessed a technical foul on the play and was removed from the game, but returned with 2:12 left in the fourth. He made a pair of free throws and was on the assisting end of an alley-oop to help seal the win.

This came just two days after Kriisa exploded for 26 points and seven assists in a rare win over Lithuania. Kriisa shot 8 for 12 from 3 that night, but went 2 for 7 from 3 against Latvia, also missing a pair of two-point field goals.

Still, it was a strong showing for Kriisa, who is one of the youngest players in the tournament.

“We have young point guards who are having confidence and they bring the electricity to our games,” the Estonian coach said Sunday. “I think this was just Kerr Kriisa’s third national team game.”

If I find any other highlights I will post them here.
