Arizona Wildcats transfer Birna Benonysdottir will continue her college career at Binghamton, it was announced Monday.

The Icelandic forward has three years of eligibility left but will have to sit out the 2020-21 season unless she receives a waiver.

Benonysdottir played 44 minutes across 10 games in her lone season at the UA, logging eight points, six rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block.

Prior to enrolling at Arizona, the 6-foot-3 post averaged 12.0 points and 4.0 rebounds while helping Iceland finish in 10th place at the U20 European Championships.

“We are excited to wrap up our signing class with the addition of Birna to our program,” Binghamton head coach Bethann Shapiro Ord said in a statement. “She is a skilled post player who has the ability to score in the paint as well as stretch the defenses with her ability to shoot from the outside. She is a very versatile player, can handle the ball, range to the 3, and has the size to be a presence in the paint.”

Located in Vestal, New York—a three-hour drive north of New York City—Binghamton competes in the America East. They went 22-9 last season, including a 10-6 conference record.
