The news of college football players slowly beginning to trickle back to campus for voluntary workouts—the Arizona Wildcats won’t do so until June 15—means we can really start to envision the 2020 season happening this fall.

And there’s no better, or at least time-consuming, way to fill the void between now and late August than with preseason rankings, award watch lists and projected all-conference teams.

Athlon Sports has stepped in with the last of those topics, releasing its projected 2020 Pac-12 team. The site went super deep, compiling four units, which is a good thing for Arizona or it might have been even less represented than the five players who made the cut.

No UA players were named to the first- or second-team squads, with senior linebacker Colin Schooler the only Wildcat making the third team. Arizona has four Fourth-team selections in wide receiver Jamarye Joiner, offensive linemen Donovan Laie and Josh McCauley and cornerback Lorenzo Burns.

Arizona’s five selections are tied for UCLA for fewest in the Pac-12. Oregon and USC were tied with the most, at 13 apiece, while Cal and Stanford had 12 players make the teams. ASU has 10, though its only first-teamer is punter Michael Turk (who just somehow managed to regain his NCAA eligibility after entering the 2020 NFL Draft but didn’t get picked).
