Arizona softball utility Ivy Davis has entered the transfer portal, sources confirmed Friday. The news was first reported by Justin’s World of Softball.
Davis was a swiss-army knife for the Wildcats over the past three seasons, starting at seven different positions in her career (first base, second base, third base, shortstop, left field, right field and designated player).
In 2020, she had finally found a permanent home at first base, starting in 21 of 25 games. She hit a career-high .305 with three homers, three doubles, three stolen bases and 13 RBI.
The Wildcats are set to add power-hitting first baseman Carlie Scupin from nearby Tucson High for the 2021 season, so Davis would have had a fierce battle for playing time moving forward.
Davis will be a junior again in 2021 after the NCAA granted eligibility relief after the coronavirus canceled the 2020 season. She becomes the second Wildcat to transfer.
Outfielder and Tucson native Carli Campbell, who started on the 2019 Women’s College World Series team, entered the portal earlier in the month.
