Arizona offensive lineman Edgar Burrola undergoes shoulder surgery

While the 2019 season was by no means a successful one for the Arizona Wildcats, it was something of a breakout for Edgar Burrola. After seeing almost no action in his first two years, Burrola started six games on the offensive line last fall while playing in 11 contests, mostly at right tackle.

That performance sets up Burrola for a big redshirt junior season in 2020, assuming he is able to come back from a torn labrum.

Burrola tweeted a picture of himself on Thursday in the hospital after having surgery on his left shoulder, a procedure he says will keep him out five to six months.

That timetable will keep Burrola from taking part in spring practice but would have him in line for full participation in preseason training camp, which is expected to begin in late July.

The 6-foot-6, 305-pound Burrola is one of eight offensive linemen who started a game in 2019 who are expected to return, including left tackle Donovan Laie and Josh McCauley. Arizona signed two OL in December and has a commitment from 3-star offensive tackle Cedric Melton.
