Where do the experts rank the Arizona Wildcats?
Jacob Snow-USA TODAY Sports
The hype is gone.
After losing to St. John’s on Saturday, their third defeat in their last four games, the Arizona Wildcats (10-3) nearly fell out of the AP Top 25 and are viewed in an even worse light by some of the most well-known college basketball experts.
Here’s a roundup of where the Wildcats rank in the eyes of some of the major media outlets and ESPN’s Bracketology.
ESPN (Jeff Borzello) — Dropped out
Arizona was 16th (of 16) in last week’s ESPN Power Rankings but are now out of the mix, not even among the three teams who are “in the waiting room.”
NCAA.com (Andy Katz) — Dropped out
The Wildcats dropped out of Katz’s Power 36 after ranking 27th last week.
NBC/Yahoo! Sports (Rob Dauster) — 17th
Dauster dropped Arizona four spots after the loss to St. John’s, explaining his reasoning on his podcast.
CBS Sports (Gary Parrish) — Dropped out
Parrish ranked Arizona 15th in his Top 25 And 1 last week, but removed them completely after the loss to St. John’s.
KenPom — 14th
Arizona has the No. 12 offense and No. 43 defense in the country, according to Ken Pomeroy’s metrics.
ESPN Bracketology (Joe Lunardi) — No. 5 seed in the Midwest
Arizona was a No. 4 seed in the West in last week’s Bracketology.
