One of the greatest tight ends ever, an Arizona alum, made the cut

Rob Gronkowski, a former Arizona Wildcats star, has been awarded the prestigious honor of being named to the NFL’s 100 All-Time team.

The all-time team is being compiled in celebration of the NFL’s centennial anniversary. The tight ends who made the cut were revealed on Friday, with the former Wildcat and New England Patriot being one of the five selected.

Gronkowski played at Arizona from 2007-09, though he missed the entire 2009 season with injury, before being selected by New England with the 42nd pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.

Gronkowski didn’t make a good first impression on the Patriots, as coach Bill Belichick noted during the reveal show, but New England and Gronkowski proved to be a match made in heaven.

Gronkowski finished his pro career with 521 receptions for 7,861 yards and 79 touchdowns, as well as five Pro Bowl appearances and 3 Super Bowl rings. He retired following the 2018 season, after helping the Patriots win their sixth Super Bowl.
