Jace Whittaker didn’t have the kind of senior season he had hoped with the Arizona Wildcats, both individually and from a team perspective. Thankfully, he’ll get a chance to at least partially redeem the individual part at one of college football’s top senior all-star games.

Whittaker has accepted an invitation to the 2020 East-West Shrine Bowl, which will be played Jan. 18 in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Played since 1925, the East-West Shrine Bowl has provided college seniors (and juniors who have graduated) a chance to highlight their skills in front of NFL scouts.

Last year’s game saw Shawn Poindexter catch four passes for 71 yards including a 23-yard touchdown, helping him draw the eye of scouts from the San Francisco 49ers who signed him as a rookie free agent in May.

Whittaker had 55 tackles, two for loss, as well as a sack, three interceptions and six pass breakups in 2019. For his career he had seven picks and 34 PBUs, the latter figure good for fourth in school history.

He is not projected to get drafted.
