Arizona takes on Team USA at Hi Corbett on Oct. 26

Arizona’s baseball team has begun fall workouts, with three exhibition games scheduled for later this month and in November. Two of those are against college teams, while the third will include a familiar face to Wildcat fans.

Bobby Dalbec, a key member of Arizona’s 2016 College World Series finalist, has been named to USA Baseball’s Professional National Team. That squad, made up of pros who aren’t currently on MLB 40-man rosters, will face the Wildcats at Hi Corbett Field on Oct. 26 as part of its preparation for the WSBC Premier12 tournament in November that serves as a 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualifier.

Dalbec, a fourth-round pick of the Boston Red Sox in the 2016 MLB Draft, hit 27 home runs for Boston’s Double- and Triple-A teams in 2019. MLBPipeline ranks the third baseman as the Red Sox’s second-best prospect.

From 2014-16 at Arizona, Dalbec hit .282 with 24 homers and 123 RBI while also posting a 2.65 ERA with 14 saves as a pitcher.

Arizona’s other two exhibition games are set for Nov. 9 vs. Cal Poly Pomona at Hi Corbett and Nov. 17 vs. San Diego in Phoenix.
