Ex-Arizona safety Will Parks injured in Broncos’ loss to Chiefs

Superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes wasn’t the only player to get injured in Thursday night’s Chiefs-Broncos game.

Broncos and former Arizona Wildcats safety Will Parks suffered a broken hand in the 30-6 defeat and will need surgery, according to Ryan O’Halloran of the Denver Post.

It is unclear how long Parks will be sidelined, but he said on Twitter that he will “be back sooner than you think.”

Parks, 25, has 17 tackles and a pass deflection this season. He has mostly been a reserve, though has made two starts. Pro Football Focus gives him a 56.6 grade, making him an average player (at least according to that metric).

Parks was a sixth-round pick by the Broncos in 2016 and has made 11 starts in 55 career games, logging three interceptions and a forced fumble.

The Philadelphia native is in the final year of a four-year, $2.4 million contract, and one of just four former Wildcats on an active NFL roster. The other three are defensive end Brooks Reed (Cardinals), defensive back Dane Cruikshank (Titans), and linebacker Reggie Gilbert (Titans).

Quarterback Nick Foles (Jaguars) is on injured reserve after fracturing his clavicle in Week 1.
