Arizona without starting guard Cody Creason at USC, per reports

It appears the Arizona Wildcats will be without one of their stalwarts on the offensive line for Saturday night’s game at USC.

Both GoAZCats.com and WildcatAuthority.com are reporting that senior right guard Cody Creason did not make the trip to Los Angeles, further depleting a line that was without starting left guard Robert Congel for last week’s home loss to Washington. Creason was apparently injured late in that last game.

Creason is Arizona’s most experienced lineman, having started 25 games at various positions including the first six of this season at right guard. In his absence, redshirt sophomore Bryson Cain—who started the first nine games of 2018 at right guard before suffering a knee injury—is likely to get the start.

Congel’s absence last week prompted Arizona to shift junior college transfer Paiton Fears, who had been splitting snaps at right tackle with redshirt sophomore Edgar Burrola, to left guard. That alignment allowed a season-high four sacks and nine tackles for loss to Washington.
