5-star forward Jalen Johnson commits to Duke over Arizona, Kentucky and Wisconsin

Five-star forward Jalen Johnson committed to the Duke Blue Devils over the Arizona Wildcats, Kentucky Wildcats and Wisconsin Badgers on Thursday.

The 6-foot-8 forward is the No. 4 player in the 2020 class and No. 1 player from Wisconsin. Johnson took an official visit to Arizona in November of 2018.

Duke was widely seen as the favorite to land him, earning 14 of the 15 Crystal Ball predictions. Wisconsin accounted for the other.

“Great size for such a highly skilled player. Smooth athlete. Has the frame to fill out nicely,” reads his 247Sports scouting report. “Room for improvement in foot quickness. Has complete skill set with high basketball IQ and top-notch court vision as a passer. Has high release jumper with range. Loves to go left. Passes well off dribble. Quality rebounder. Can improve as a defender. Tremendous talent with upside. Trending towards lottery-pick status.”

Arizona has not secured a commitment for the 2020 class yet, though it has landed transfers Jemarl Baker Jr. (Kentucky) and Jordan Brown (Nevada), who will both begin their UA careers in 2020-21.
