Ka’Deem Carey shines in Calgary Stampeders’ preseason finale
Where in the world is Ka’Deem Carey these days?
Canada. Calgary, to be more specific.
The former Arizona Wildcats running back is auditioning for the Calgary Stampeders this preseason, trying to secure a spot in the Canadian Football League.
Carey, 26, made a strong, and perhaps lasting, impression Friday by rushing for a team-high 77 yards on just seven carries, one of which went for 41 yards. It was Calgary’s preseason finale, meaning roster cuts will be made soon. Carey is one of several running backs listed on the Stampeders’ roster.
Carey, an Oro Valley, Ariz. native, set UA records with 4,239 rushing yards, 48 rushing touchdowns and 5,483 all-purpose yards in three seasons with the Wildcats. The consensus two-time All-American opted to forgo his senior season to enter the 2014 NFL Draft where he was a fourth-round pick by the Chicago Bears.
Carey tallied 111 carries, 443 rushing yards, and 131 receiving yards in three seasons with the Bears (2014-16) before being released prior to the start of the 2017 season due to a wrist injury.
Carey spent the 2018 season on the Stampeders’ practice squad.
