Arizona falls to Duke in NCAA women’s golf semifinals

Yet another reason for Arizona Wildcats fans to hate Duke.

The defending champions fell 3-2 to the Blue Devils on Wednesday in the semifinals of the NCAA women’s golf championship at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark.

The match was decided on the 18^th hole of the final pairing, with Duke’s Gina Kim sinking a birdie to complete a 1-up win over Arizona senior Bianca Pagdanganan. Kim drove her second shot on 18 from a bunker 144 feet out to within three feet of the cup to set up the clinching tap.

An incredible season comes to an end for the defending National Champions.

Arizona’s two wins were by sophomore Yu-Sang Hou (2 and 1) and senior Haley Moore (4 and 3). It was Moore’s birdie putt on Tuesday that pushed Arizona past top-seeded USC in the quarterfinals, reminiscent of her championship-winning shot in the 2018 NCAA tournament.
