5-star 2020 forward Jalen Johnson has Arizona in final 4

Are the frequent mentions of Sean Miller in the ongoing federal college basketball scandal having an effect on Arizona’s recruiting? It didn’t stop the Wildcats from pulling in one of the best classes in program history for 2019, and so far it’s not scaring off top-tier 2020 prospects.

That includes Jalen Johnson, a 5-star forward who included Arizona among his final four schools along with Duke, Kentucky and Wisconsin:

The 6-foot-8 Johnson, who is from Milwaukee, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 3 player in the 2020 recruiting class as well as the top small forward in the country. 247Sports director of basketball scouting Jerry Meyer compares Johnson to Paul George, noting his “great size for such a highly skilled player” as well as a “high release jumper with range.”

Arizona, which has signed the nation’s No. 2 recruiting class for 2019, has yet to secure a commitment in the 2020 class, though it has made offers to most of the top players. Johnson and fellow 5-star forwards MarJon Beauchamp and Ziaire Williams have ‘warm’ interest in the Wildcats, per 247.
