Arizona’s Aari McDonald named AP Honorable Mention All-American

Arizona Wildcats point guard Aari McDonald was named an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American on Monday.

She is the first Wildcat since Davellyn Whyte in 2012 to be named an All-American and is one of six All-Americans from the Pac-12.

The redshirt sophomore has been sensational in her first season with the Wildcats. Here are some of her accomplishments, courtesy of Arizona Athletics:

• Owns the Arizona single-season scoring record (852).
• Is fourth on the Pac-12 single-season scoring list.
• Has scored more points than any sophomore in conference history.
• Is the nation’s third-leading scorer at 24.3 points per game.
• Tied the Arizona single-game scoring record (39).
• Fastest player in school history to 500 and 600 points and is the only with 700 and 800 points in a season.
• Became the first Pac-12 player to score 30 points in three-straight games since the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer Kelsey Plum had four-straight in Jan. 2017.
• Only player in school history to have eight 30-points game.
• Joins Maya Moore as the only player since 2000 with 800 points, 200 rebounds and 150 assists in one season.
• Joins Plum, as the only players in conference history to have 750 points and 150 assists in one season.
• Has scored in double figures in every game this season.
• Became the fourth player in Pac-12 history to score 800 points in a season.
• Set the Arizona conference tournament record with 34 points against Oregon on Mar. 8.
• Was a three-time Pac-12 Player of the Week.
• Was named to the Wooden Award Midseason Top 25.
• Was named to the Watch List for the Dawn Staley and Ann Meyers Drysdale Awards.
• Was a WBCA All-America Region Finalist.

McDonald and the Wildcats host TCU in the Final Four of the WNIT on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. MST.
