Chase Jeter diagnosed with bone bruise, status for ASU uncertain

The Arizona Wildcats are hoping to have a full compliment of rotation players for Saturday’s regular-season finale against ASU. That will ultimately depend on how Chase Jeter responds to his latest injury.

“We’ll see if he’s available,” Arizona coach Sean Miller said Monday of Jeter, a redshirt junior center who has been diagnosed with a bone bruise after getting banged up in the second half of last Thursday’s win at Oregon State.

Jeter played in Saturday’s 73-47 loss at Oregon on Saturday but could barely move, logging just six first-half minutes off the bench with zero points and one rebound.

“He wasn’t effective,” Miller said. “He wasn’t able to run without limping.”

X-rays proved negative on Jeter’s knee, with Miller says is similar to the one sophomore Alex Barcello suffered Feb. 17 at Colorado.

Miller said Jeter hasn’t practiced since suffering the injury at OSU and he isn’t sure if he’ll practice this week as he tries to recover. It’s a similar path to how he came back from a back injury—also against OSU—on Jan. 19 that caused him to miss the next two games.

Jeter eventually returned Jan. 31 at ASU, playing 31 minutes off the bench.

“He did the best he could in that game,” Miller said. “We’ll see with him going forward. We’ll see if he’s available. Once you get the initial diagnosis of the injury … it’s really (pain) tolerance.”
