Allonzo Trier on fire since the All-Star break
The former Wildcat has been tearing it up lately
Did you think Allonzo Trier would hit the rookie wall?
Well, think again.
The New York Knicks guard has been on fire since the All-Star break, averaging 19.7 points per game. The best part? His efficiency. Trier is shooting .547/.556/.810 in his last six games, scoring 114 points on 64 field goal attempts.
“That’s like a fairy tale,’’ Trier said of rookie walls (via the New York Post). “A myth to me.’’
Since the All-Star break, Trier has, incredibly, scored:

114 points on just 64 FG attempts
To put that in context,
Jimmy Butler has scored 85 points on 75 FG attempts
Paul George has scored 84 points on 74 FG attempts
Jayson Tatum has scored 76 points on 71 FG attempts
The former Arizona Wildcat has crossed the 20-point threshold three times in those six games, including a 29-point outing against the Sacramento Kings on Monday.
For the season, Trier is averaging 10.9 points per game, the eighth-best mark among rookies.
“While this stretch is the best of the season for Trier, spare December, he has actually been very consistent this season,” wrote WFAN’s John Schmeelk. “Except for December, which featured seven missed games due to a bad hamstring, Trier hasn’t shot worse than 45% in any other month. He hasn’t shot lower than 36% from behind the arc or (at least until March) under 79% from the free throw line. In four of the six months this year he has he has averaged more than 2.9 points than field goal attempts.”
While Trier went undrafted, his play earned him a two-year, $7 million contract from the Knicks that will pay him the equivalent of what some first-round draft picks make.
Trier, by the way, stopped by Arizona’s practice Tuesday. He was in town because the Knicks play the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night.
