Arizona reaches out to Santa Clara grad transfer KJ Feagin, per report

The Wildcats are one of several teams interested in the two-time All-WCC guard

The Arizona Wildcats are one of 19 schools that have reached out to Santa Clara graduate transfer KJ Feagin, according to Evan Daniels of 247Sports.

The 6-foot-1 guard recently entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal after he broke his thumb two games into his senior season.

Feagin, a two-time All-West Coast Conference selection, averaged 17.5 points and 4.0 assists with a .443/.372/.868 shooting line as a junior in 2017-18, playing point guard 95 percent of the time, per KenPom.

The Long Beach, California native has one of year eligibility left and can play in 2019-20.

Arizona currently has 13 players set to be under scholarship that season, which is the maximum amount, but UA coach Sean Miller said Tuesday that his coaching staff is “always recruiting.”

The Wildcats would have to clear a scholarship to add Feagin — or any other player — to their roster, but those things always seem to work themselves out. Arizona already lost Emmanuel Akot to transfer this week and could see another player or two leave the program early.

“Every program is experiencing a lot of turnover,” Miller said Tuesday.

Feagin would join a backcourt that, as of now, includes Nico Mannion, Brandon Williams, Terry Armstrong, Alex Barcello, Devonaire Doutrive, Brandon Randolph and Dylan Smith.
