Report: Oregon unlikely to have forward Kenny Wooten for Thursday game at Arizona

The Arizona Wildcats will put their 4-0 record in Pac-12 play on the line Thursday when they host the preseason conference favorite Oregon Ducks. At least one of Oregon’s top players won’t be in action, due to a season-ending injury, and indications are another starter will also remain sidelined.

Per Steve Mims of the Eugene Register-Guard, sophomore forward Kenny Wooten is not expected to play at McKale Center because of a broken jaw that has kept him out of Oregon’s last four games. The 6-foot-9 Wooten has been fitted for a face mask, which he’s started to wear in workouts and drills, but has yet to be cleared to return.

“His family and his people want to see him back and we want to see him back,” Oregon coach Dana Altman said, per Mims. “We will have to wait and see what the doctor says.”

Wooten is averaging 6.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game. He’s one of two starters Oregon has been without, the other being 7-foot-3 freshman center Bol Bol, who suffered a stress fracture in his left foot last month and is done for the year. Bol leads the Ducks in scoring (21.0), rebounding (9.6) and blocks (2.7).

Oregon is currently playing with only eight healthy scholarship players. The Ducks sit at 10-6 overall but 1-2 in the Pac-12, having lost at home to Oregon State and UCLA before beating USC on Sunday.
