JJ Taylor named semifinalist for Doak Walker Award

Where would the Arizona Wildcats be this season without JJ Taylor? At the very least, they’d be without a candidate for one of the nation’s top individual awards.

Taylor has been named a semifinalist for the Doak Walker Award, given annually to college football’s top running back.

The redshirt junior has run for 1,221 yards, fourth-most in FBS and the top tally for an Arizona player since Nick Wilson had 1,375 in 2014. Taylor has gained 558 yards in his last three games prior to the Wildcats’ bye last week.

Walker is the first Arizona player to be a Doak Walker semifinalist since Ka’Deem Carey, who was a finalist in 2013.
