Arizona opens as heavy underdog at Washington State

It’s not going to be easy for the Arizona Wildcats to pull an upset in its next game, and the point spread established for Saturday’s game against the Washington State Cougars reflects that.

Arizona (5-5, 4-3 Pac-12) has opened as a 10.5-point underdog for the Nov. 17 game against the Cougars (9-1, 6-1) in Pullman. That marks the third consecutive road game for the Wildcats in which they have been underdogs by 10 or more points.

Washington State, which leads the North Division by a game over Washington, needs a win to stay in the hunt for the College Football Playoff. Arizona is still alive for the South Division title but would need Utah (7-3, 5-3) to lose at Colorado on Saturday afternoon.

Arizona is 6-4 against the spread this season, 2-2 in road games. Wazzu is 9-1 ATS, the only game it failed to cover a 19-13 win over California in its last home game on Nov. 3.
