Report: 3 Arizona football players arrested for trespassing, 1 for marijuana possession

Three Arizona Wildcats freshmen football players were caught trespassing inside Arizona Stadium late last month, according to a report by the Arizona Daily Wildcat student newspaper.

Citing a UA police department report, the Wildcat’s Alec White reported that cornerback Dayven Coleman, quarterback Jamarye Joiner and running back Darrius Smith were arrested early on Oct. 23 after being found inside the stadium around 12:45 a.m. All three were cited for criminal trespassing while Coleman was also cited for marijuana possession.

Coleman admitted to bringing marijuana into the stadium after a UAPD officer smelled it in their vicinity, White wrote.

White wrote that the UA athletic department was aware of the arrests and that each athlete is “subject to disciplinary action,” noting that Coleman will serve a one-game suspension.

None of the trio have played since Joiner and Coleman appeared in the Oct. 12 loss at Utah, though it is unclear if their on-field absences are related to the incident. Smith last played Sept. 15 against Southern Utah.
