3-star Belgian DE Sylvain Yondjouen commits to Arizona

Arizona just went to Europe and snagged a commit

The Arizona Wildcats received some news on the recruiting front during the Territorial Cup.

During the first quarter, high 3-star defensive end Sylvain Yondjouen announced his commitment to the Wildcats.

Yondjouen, from Brussels, Belgium of all places, is a freakishly athletic player and has been touted as the best player in Europe, where American football is starting to gain traction.

“He is very gifted and he’s still got a lot of room to grow,” one Power 5 assistant coach told Bruce Feldman of The Athletic. “He hasn’t had a lot of coaching, and two years from now, he could be 280. His upside is big.”

We haven’t seen any game film on Yondjouen but there are plenty of clips of him conducting drills on his Twitter feed that you can watch below.

Yondjouen had 11 offers, including Colorado, Cincinnati, Virginia, Temple, and Western Michigan. He becomes the 15th member of Arizona’s 2019 class and is the second defensive lineman on board.

He is a project, no doubt, but he has tremendous upside and can grow into a special player.
