Arizona volleyball swept by No. 15 Washington

The Arizona Wildcats volleyball team was swept in straight sets (18-25, 23-25, 23-25) by No. 15 Washington on Friday in McKale Center.

The 21st-ranked Wildcats fall to 14-3 overall and 3-2 in the Pac-12. Washington is 12-3 and 4-1, respectively.

The Huskies cruised through the first set and held an early lead in the second set, before the Wildcats rallied to take a 12-11 lead and later a 16-15 lead. The set was tied at 19-19 before UW went on a 6-4 run to win it.

The Huskies led the entire third set until Kendra Dahlke’s kill tied it at 23. UW scored the next two points to take the match.

Dahlke led the Wildcats with 18 kills. Julia Patterson had 34 assists. The Wildcats posted a .173 hitting percentage. The Huskies hit .333.

UA freshman outside hitter Whittnee Nihipali made her first career start and tallied two kills.

Arizona returns to action Sunday when it hosts No. 22 Washington State at 12 p.m. MST.
