Arizona unranked in preseason AP Poll for first time since 2010-11

The Wildcats received 14 votes

The Arizona Wildcats are entering the 2018-19 season in rather uncharted territory.

The preseason AP Poll was released Monday and they find themselves unranked to begin a season for the first time since 2010-11, the year they reached the Elite Eight.

However, Arizona did receive 14 votes, placing it as the No. 37 team in the country. Here is the preseason poll in its entirety:

The Pac-12 has three teams inside the Top 25 — Oregon (14), UCLA (21), and Washington (25). USC received six votes and ASU garnered three.

No one else on the Wildcats’ schedule is ranked, but they could play Gonzaga and/or Duke in the Maui Invitational and those teams are No. 3 and No. 4 in the country, respectively.

As it’s been said time and time again, this will be a prove-it year for Arizona, which has talent on its roster, but not much proven production.

The Wildcats open the season on Wednesday, Nov. 7 against Houston Baptist. Before that, they have exhibitions against Western New Mexico and Chaminade.
