Gunnell definitely earns the title “Gunslinger”

It was only a matter of time, but it has finally happened.

Arizona Wildcats commit and St. Pius X High School quarterback Grant Gunnell has broken the Texas High School football record for career passing yards.

At the time of this article, Gunnell has amassed 14,408 career passing yards, an insane amount of yards in a state that has produced extremely talented quarterbacks for decades. The record was previously held by Booker High School’s Hunter Lile.

At the start of the Panthers’ game on Friday night, Gunnell was only 10 passing touchdowns short of breaking another career TXHSFB record.

A three-star prospect, Gunnell is ranked as the 15th pocket-passer and 394th overall prospect in the 2019 class by 247Sports’ composite rankings.

Gunnell and SPX still have plenty of games left this season, so stay tuned. It won’t be long before the future Wildcat shatters another record.
