Arizona listed as two-score underdog at Utah
Saturday’s defense-fueled win over the California Golden Bears apparently didn’t impress the oddsmakers, at least not as much as how the Utah Utes fared in whooping Stanford.
As a result, the Arizona Wildcats head to Salt Lake City on Friday with its biggest underdog line in nearly two years.
Per VegasInsider, Utah (3-2, 1-2 Pac-12) is a 13.5-point favorite over Arizona (3-2, 2-1). It’s the first time the Wildcats have been a double-digit underdog since November 2016, when as 17.5-point home dogs against the Colorado Buffaloes they lost 49-24.
Being such a large underdog usually means Arizona loses, as it has dropped eight in a row when the opponent is favored by 10 or more points. The Wildcats covered twice in that stretch, most recently in September 2016 when they lost 35-28 at home to the Washington Huskies as 17-point dogs.
The Wildcats are 3-3 against the spread this season, covering in each win and failing to do so in the losses. They are 1-2 as an underdog, the victory coming in Saturday’s 24-20 win after the line closed at Cal -2.
Arizona is 4-3 against Utah since the Utes joined the Pac-12 in 2011, losing the last two. The winning team has covered each time.
