Pro Football Focus: Khalil Tate's best when passing over the middle

Khalil Tate and the Arizona Wildcats offense finally looked like themselves on Saturday night against Southern Utah, and multiple outlets noticed.

Pro Football Focus showcased Tate in a tweet on Monday, showing his electric statline in the middle of the field versus the Thunderbird defense.

Beyond Tate’s impressive shoutout from PFF, the Rose Bowl Game’s official Twitter account named him its player of the week in the Pac-12.

Tate went 13 of 20 for a career-high 349 yards and matched his career best with five touchdown passes in about three quarters of play on Saturday. What was even more encouraging than Tate’s play was his more mobile play style in the backfield, resembling his 2017 self. If coach Kevin Sumlin can keep Tate loose in the backfield while also making him more of a passing threat, Arizona could improve greatly in coming weeks.

It may have been against Southern Utah, but the young quarterback’s performance shows that it is too early to count out not only Tate but this entire team just yet.
