WATCH: Arizona walk-on Lindsey Malecha surprised with scholarship
Lindsey Malecha spent three years trying to join the Arizona women’s basketball team, before she finally earned a spot as a walk-on as a junior.
Now, she’s on scholarship.
Head coach Adia Barnes surprised the senior with the news Friday.
The reveal was awesome:
It’s that time of the week where everyone gets that #FridayFeeling. But for walk-on @LindseyMalecha, she has that SCHOLARSHIP FEELING!!!! pic.twitter.com/CE96Kz0XIu

Malecha appeared in 23 games in her first season with the Wildcats.
Before arriving in Tucson, she was a four-year letterwinner at Hill-Murray High School in Maplewood, Minnesota, and was named first-team All-Conference during her freshman, junior and senior seasons.
During her senior season, she was named All-State Class AAA after averaging 22 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.3 steals per game.
However, she suffered a knee injury that year which altered the course of her career and subsequently led her to the UA.
“Lindsey Malecha is what a Wildcat is all about,” Barnes tweeted. “She is #Madeforit and I am so happy for her!!”
