Rawle Alkins lifts Raptors to overtime win vs. Hornets
The former Wildcat had 25 points and 11 rebounds in a clutch performance
Rawle Alkins came to the rescue to keep the Toronto Raptors’ Summer League title hopes alive.
The former Arizona Wildcat had a team-high 25 points and 11 rebounds in an 87-84 overtime win over the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday in Las Vegas. Toronto will face the Cleveland Cavaliers in the quarterfinals Sunday.
Alkins sank a game-tying layup with 56 seconds left in regulation, then hit a go-ahead 3 with 31 seconds in overtime that proved to be the game-winner and capped off a terrific shooting night.
Alkins was 10-for-16 from the field and 5-for-7 from 3.
“I was in the zone,” Alkins said after the game on the NBATV broadcast. “I was locked in just trying to get the win.”
Here are all his highlights:
Alkins is now averaging 10.2 points and 5.2 rebounds in 18.8 minutes at Summer League. He was shooting just 31 percent entering Saturday’s game, but upped that mark to 42 percent after his strong showing.
Alkins is technically a free agent, but he is expected to ink an Exhibit 10 deal with the Raptors. He is reportedly without an agent right now.
