Aaron Gordon to re-sign with Orlando Magic on 4-year, $84 million deal, per report

The former Wildcat gets a huge payday

Former Arizona Wildcats forward Aaron Gordon has agreed to re-sign with the Orlando Magic, it was reported by Yahoo!’s Shams Charania on Sunday.

The deal is worth $84 million over four years, an average annual value of $21 million. Gordon was a restricted free agent, which meant Orlando would have had the right to match any deal for him.

The Lakers were said to have interest in the 22-year-old, but it likely waned when L.A. signed LeBron James.

Gordon had a breakout season in 2017-18. He averaged 17.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in his fourth season with the Magic. All those figures are career-highs. He also shot a career-best from 3-point land (.336).

The Magic have struggled all four years Gordon has been on their roster, but clearly they are hoping he can be one of their cornerstones moving forward.

Orlando selected Gordon fourth overall in the 2014 NBA Draft. The Magic went 25-57 last season. They hired former Hornets head coach Steve Clifford to replace Frank Vogel, who was Orlando’s head coach for two seasons.
